Print swap and Zine from Gravy Studio

Updated: Jul 6, 2023

The photography scene in Philly is strong, and keeps getting stronger. Im lucky enough to be close friends with the people behind the long running Gravy studio. Gravy started out over ten years ago in a motorcycle garage and has had quite the journey from there, making their way to northern liberties and then back to Fishtown. Gravy has a few core members who are all involved in photography in various aspects, each brings a different style to the group, it is a beautiful thing. I am very lucky to have been able to latch onto them through the years and attend many of their openings and events throughout the city. The fearless Katie Tackman has worked her butt off in the photo world of Philly and brings many years of knowledge to the scene, she does it all and I'm very grateful to call her my friend. I have made many friends who I have met at gravy events through the years and with that my life and career has been enriched, I truly those those guys. Anyway, Gravy does a really fun print swap almost every year where local photographers bring some prints to meet other photographers and as the name says you give some prints and take some prints, its a great way to expand your art collection and meet new people, as well as a great way to get your own art out there for more people to see. This year the Print Swap was at the stunning Halide Project, a dark room/ educational space/ analog photography gallery on the edge of Fishtown, check them out! Gravy also created a zine, it's a collection of images from the photographers who submitted images and participated in the print swap. One of the images is mine, entitled Body with out a Face. You can check out the zine here, it has work by so many great artists, and is such a cool honor to be able to have my image among them.
